100 SECRET FILES ON NETA JI - DECLASSIFIED

DECLASSIFICATION OF SECRET FILES ON NETA JI

A hundred secret files relating to Subhas Chandra Bose made public by PM Narendra Modi on the 119th birth anniversary of the freedom fighter on Saturday do not throw new light on much of the existing narrative on Netaji, except for a Cabinet note of February 1995 saying he had indeed died in an air crash in Taipei on August 18, 1945.  “There seems to be no scope for doubt that he died in the air crash of August 18, 1945 at Taihoku,“ said the note, adding that the government had accepted that position. In fact, bulk of the secret Netaji files made public on Saturday relate to hundreds of petitions and demands for fresh inquiry into Subhas Chandra Bose's death made by politicians, family members and well-wishers from 1960s till now.         A host of suggestions were made in these representations, including one by journalist Ashish Ray asking Narasimha Rao to get a DNA test conducted of the ashes of Bose kept in Renkoji Temple in Japan. Though bizarre, another suggestion by D N Sinha of All India Qaumi Ekta Committee suggested that bringing Netaji's ashes to India would fetch Congress an extra 1020% votes.

TOI INTERVIEW - `Netaji files in Russia, Japan, UK must be declassified too'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday made public digital copies of 100 secret files relating to Subhas Chandra Bose on his 119th birth anniversary. Netaji's grand-nephew, Surya Kumar Bose, speaks to TOI's Rohit E David on the declassified files and much more

Do you feel this declassification is a big achievement for the Bose family and India?
Yes, this has been the first time that a Prime Minister of India has had the courage to start opening up the classified files on Subhas Chandra Bose, Sarat Chandra Bose, (and other family members) and the Indian National Army (INA).
How close are these files in telling the truth about Netaji's death?

INDIAN PoW- KILLED & EATEN IN WW-ll

Japanese soldiers take aim at Indian PoWs

NEW DELHI: On April 2, 1946, the Reuters correspondent in Melbourne, Australia, cabled a short message, which was carried by all newspapers a day later, including The Times of India. It read: “The Japanese Lieutenant Hisata Tomiyasu found guilty of the murder of 14 Indian soldiers and of cannibalism at Wewak (New Guinea) in 1944 has been sentenced to death by hanging, it is learned from Rabaul.”The nationalist narrative has long projected the Second World War as a  clash between the patriots of the Indian National Army (INA), supported by the Japanese Empire, and the evil British Empire. The soldiers of the Indian Army who fought for the British are immediately dismissed as stooges of the Raj. But the refusal of many who were taken prisoner to renege on their oaths of loyalty in the face of extreme torture also showed remarkable bravery.

NETA JI SUBHASH CHANDER BOSE I.N.A. TRUST

Affectionately called 'Netaji'.......Subhas Chandra Bose, was one of the most prominent leaders of Indian freedom struggle. India's freedom struggle cannot be imagined without remembering the great sacrifice and determination and contribution of Subash Chandra Bose. He founded Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) to overthrow British Empire from India and came to acquire legendary status among Indian masses.

DOORDARSHAN telecasted a special programme on Neta Ji in January 2015 on Birth Anniversary of Neta Ji . It is worth watching to know what a great Chrismatic leader he was. Watch Full video here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD7p2MpRXvg

NATIONAL CONVENTION - NEW DELHI 06 AUG 2015 - BRIEF CONCEPT

THE NATIONAL CONVENTION 2015 WAS HELD AT DELHI ON THE 6TH AUG 2015 ON LEGACY OF NETA JI AND HIS AZAD HIND FAUJ.

Neta Ji Subash Chandra Bose, the most chrismatic leader of India'S freedom
struggle took up the mantle of leadership at a time when the strategies and methodsdevised  and  practiced  by  Mohan  Das  Karam Chand Gandhi reached a dead end in the early 40s .While the Mahatma  successfully  achieved  the elusive solidarity among faction ridden society and a degree of hope among the masses  for  ultimate freedom from foreign rule, some day , it was Subhash who forged the the final weapon to cut through British  colonial  power.  Yet,  the  narrative  of  state  India  built  in  1947 and  thereafter  was    entred  on Gandhian pacifism. 'De Di Hamein Azadi Bina Khag Bina Dhal  Sabarmati Ke Sant Toone Kar Diya Kamal'. This does not bear historical Scrutiny . India paid for its freedom with the blood of 26000 Azad Hind Fauj  Soldiers .

This is the first occasion when an anti British politician has acquired a hold over a substantial number of men in the Indian Army and the consequences are quite incalculable . ........The cabinet Should consider very carefully what to do with him. If he could be disposed off without being sent back to India, I am sure it would be a good thing.

Lord Wave/I, Viceroy of India in a note to Secretary of State for India - Aug 1945
"We decided to leave India because we lost the loyalty of the Indian Armed forces due to the influence of Subhash Chandra Bose. The impact of Gandhi on the

"He was certainly always a nationalist. For him, the In dian Nation was an idea, the very antithesis of the princel y states and the caste system and linguistic conflicts, and above all, the very antithesis of Jinnah's theory of two nations."
- Anton  Pelinka on Netaji Subhash -

"The British no longer feared Gandhi o; Nehru, but they feared Bose and the violence he represented, and his suddenl y amplified figure overawed the conferences that were to lead to independence.11
- Michael Edwards

"The contribution made by Netaji S C Bose towards the achievement of freedom in 1945 was no less and perha ps more important than that of M ahatma Gandhi."
- R.C. Majumdar, Historian

"The Sikhs may try & set up a separate regime and that will only be the su-,rt of a general decentralization and breakup of the idea that Ind ia is a country, whereas it is a subcont inent as varied as Europe . The Punjabi is as different Fom a M adrasi, as a Scdt from an ftalian. The British tried to consolidate it but achieved nothing permanent. No one can make a nation out of the Eq«ator."
- Field Marshal Claude Auchinlek

Strategic Direction of Freedom Struggle

Where a nation state is going, depends a great deal on where it has come from. What were its origins? How did it gain its freedom? How were its seminal institutions formed? What was its national narrative on formation? Who were its heroes? 68 years  after independence, the time has come to take a dispassionate view of our recent history and reassess the role of the key dramatis personae. This is not an exercise in digging up graves, but an essential exercise about recognizing who we are and what do we stand for. The Indian Freedom struggle had thrown up a galaxy of great leaders who were talented men of great vision and stature. In retrospect one of the tallest amongst them perhaps was Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

"There was, in Bose's perception, a linkage between how India gained independence and what India would do after independence. How India gained independence would determine if India would be able to surmount the powerful efforts being made to undermine her unity. At this stage
{1942} , Bose's mind was not only on the ensuing struggle, he also gave much attention to the question of the cohesion and modernization of Indian society. Without these, he felt, India's political unitywould remain vulnerable."

- Sitanshu Das, Subhash Bose: A Political Biography

The Use of Force: The key question about the freedom struggle is basically what actually worked? What was the relative contribution of the use of force versus the Non-violent Agitational approach towards India achieving her independence. In terms of violence - there are two landmark events - the 1857 Mutiny and the first war of independence that it unleashed.
