NATIONAL CONVENTION - NEW DELHI 06 AUG 2015 - BRIEF CONCEPT

THE NATIONAL CONVENTION 2015 WAS HELD AT DELHI ON THE 6TH AUG 2015 ON LEGACY OF NETA JI AND HIS AZAD HIND FAUJ.

Neta Ji Subash Chandra Bose, the most chrismatic leader of India'S freedom
struggle took up the mantle of leadership at a time when the strategies and methodsdevised  and  practiced  by  Mohan  Das  Karam Chand Gandhi reached a dead end in the early 40s .While the Mahatma  successfully  achieved  the elusive solidarity among faction ridden society and a degree of hope among the masses  for  ultimate freedom from foreign rule, some day , it was Subhash who forged the the final weapon to cut through British  colonial  power.  Yet,  the  narrative  of  state  India  built  in  1947 and  thereafter  was    entred  on Gandhian pacifism. 'De Di Hamein Azadi Bina Khag Bina Dhal  Sabarmati Ke Sant Toone Kar Diya Kamal'. This does not bear historical Scrutiny . India paid for its freedom with the blood of 26000 Azad Hind Fauj  Soldiers .

This is the first occasion when an anti British politician has acquired a hold over a substantial number of men in the Indian Army and the consequences are quite incalculable . ........The cabinet Should consider very carefully what to do with him. If he could be disposed off without being sent back to India, I am sure it would be a good thing.

Lord Wave/I, Viceroy of India in a note to Secretary of State for India - Aug 1945
"We decided to leave India because we lost the loyalty of the Indian Armed forces due to the influence of Subhash Chandra Bose. The impact of Gandhi on the

British decision was Mi ...Ni ...Ma/".

Clement Atlee, Prime Minister of Great Britain durin visit to Kolkata post 1947

Subhash recognized that the real world is never going to relinquish power as a means to national supremacy and India, must therefore be industrially advanced and militarily strong to be able to defend its national interests. Yet , we continue to be soft and vulnerable .

Free India will have to fight her modern enemies with modern weapons, both in the economic and the political spheres. Free world must prepare for any eventuality, as long as whole world does not accept, whole heartedly, the policy of complete disarmament."

Subhash Chandra Bose

Subhash recognized that religion, caste and corruption are the  major impediments in the way  to India's unity and revival. He was the true secularist if ever there was one. He believed in equality -not special privileges. Azad Hind Fauj was the epitome of equality sans religion, c;aste, region, language et al. Yet, our polity remains riddled with appeasement and divisiveness   and is getting worse .

"There are three things standing in the way of revival of India which we rriust first overcome. The caste system, corruption and the proliferation of religion in other than personal life"

"By freedom, I mean all round freedom, i.e freedom for individual as well as for society, for the rich as well as for the poor, for all individuals and all classes. Not only emancipation from political bondage but abolition of poverty as well as barriers of caste, communalism, religious fanaticism and social inequalities" .

Subhash Chandra Bose

Subhash recognized that 'character education is the real basis of for national revival; not merely economic and scientific revival but cultural and moral revival too. Education, based on moraUy upright, patriotic and service (not self) oriented citizens with a scientific temper and balanced world view . Yet our system remains rooted in Mecaulean mischief aimed at producing book worms and clerks - not men and women of substance and purpose

"Bookworms, gold medalists and office clerks are not what universities should endeavour to produce, but men of character who will become great by achieving greatness for their country in different spheres of life".  Subhash Chandra Bose

Subhash recognized in the early 40s that India's destiny is intricately intertwined with that of Asia because we have shared history , culture and value systems . That the route to social and economic revival is conditioned by mutuality of interests and trust. Yet, it has taken us to take reluctant baby steps towards 'Look East and Act East'

"There is hardly any Asiatic to whom the spectacle of Asia lying strangled at the feet of Europe does not cause pain and humiliation. But Asia has not been in this stage always........ Time is not far off when rejuvenated Asia will rise resplendent in power and glory and take her legitimate place in theIr comity of free nations.           Subhash Chandra Bose

People and socities achieve on the foundation of self belief. People who deride their own history as fiction ?' 1d their culture as dogma can never be self confident, a condition that invariably leads to aping others . History demands acceptai:ice of truth, not denial. History written with a specific end view will never inspire confidence nor any goals .Mature nations have intrinsic strength to draw inspiration from past glory and lessons from blunders and shame. Truth must be the litmus test of history.

"India has a culture of her own whiclJ. she must continue to deelop along her own distinctive channels. In philosophy, literature, arts and sciences, we have something new to give to the world which the world eagerly awaits".                  Subhash Chandra Bose

A nation that fails to learn lessons from its past mistakes is bound to repeat them. Similarly, a nation that fails to draw inspiration from the wisdom and achievements of its ancestors is deemed to mediocrity and followetship for ever. A nation that does not celebrate its great and its brave is doomed to subjugation and retardation .

" The hypnotism of the /NA has cast a spell on us all. Netaji's name is one to conjure with. His bravery shines above all".                         Mahatma Gandhi

" A measure of courage can not be denied to the leaders of /NA frontline units when they faced upto British equipment, tanks, guns and aircraft with rifles and bullock carts and empty stomachs"

GHQ ( India ) Intelligence Summary

Subhash Chandra Bose and his soldiers are national icons whose deeds of patriotism, self discipline and sacrifice They must find places of honour in the pantheons of our history and celebrated with befitting memorials such that they remain  as sources of inspiration today and tomorrow . Stories of their lives, travails and achievements must be written and read by generations . Only then will Indians be motivated to work for a strong, confident , just and prosperous India.

Distinction must be drawn by nations between their history and their heritage. While parts of history may not be pride worthy  and can not be wished away, heritage is that part of history of which the nation can feel proud and which must be saved and showcased for posterity . Unfortunately, we seemed to have ignored this differentiation . How can India be proud of that religious tyrant Aurangzeb by glorifying him on the roads of Independent India's capital city.

"No suffering, no sacrifice is ever futile. It is through suffering and sacrifice alone that a cause can flourish . In every age and clime the eternal law prevails , " The blood of the Martyre is the seed of the church"    Subhash Chandra Bose.

"Your colossal sacrifice will bless your names and proudly proclaim to the world that you their forbears fought and lost the battles in Manipur, Assam and Burma but that through temporary failure you paved the way to ultimate success and glory"

Subhash Chandra Bose

We the people of India have given ourselves a historical narrative of our nationhood that does not inspire trust and confidence . An overwhelming majority of Indians believe that this narrative has been invented by court historians. It is true that history is written by the victors but it is equally true that great civilizations and nations can and must seek the truth and where necessary rewrite history to reflect truth. History of our freedom struggle therefore needs to be re visited, truth discovered and history re written.

History demands transparency of fact. It certainly needs a closure on the issue of what happened to our
,, greatest patriot and hero after the collapse of Axis powers consequent to the holocaust of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. People of India overwhelmingly believe that whatever be the truth in the matter, the official story of his death in an air crash in taihoku on 18 August 1945 is patently false . They are not convinced about the purported reasons for non disclosure of files relating to the subject even after a lapse of seven decades when the geopolitical balance in the world has so drastically changed and a great nation such as India need not worry about imaginary adverse consequences of truth being revealed. Confidant nations can and must learn to live with truth even though it may be bitter.

Subhash is the greatest youth Icon that India has produced over several centuries . He and The INA soldiers are national heroes in their own right. Rather than pushing their stories of valour and sacrifices into the margins of history it needs to be proactively propagated through our educational curriculum. The chapters on the life and exploits of national heroes which have, over time, gone missing from textbooks need to be rewritten and republished as part of the school and college curriculum .

A proud nation needs to celebrate its heroes with pride and devotion. Their memorials need to be set up at prominent locations especially  in the national and state capitals to honour them such· that these

become centres of pilgrimage and inspirational tourism. India owes a heavy debt of gratitude to Subhash Chandra Bose and his soldiers . We must avoid being called an ungrateful nation by neglecting their rich legacy .

Subhash Chandra Bose was a titan among his contemporaries world over . He is not the leader merely of Bengal or of India alone. His legacy appears to have been pawned to a small branch of the Bose family but that is not where Subhash belonged. He belonged to India. His legacy belongs to all of the 125 Crore Indians and to Subhash lovers spread through the length and breadth of the world . People of India and expatriate Indians elsewhere are joint custodians of his legacy.

Distinction needs to be made between India's History under alien domination and our National heritage. India is a nation with a past full of glorious history, culture and knowledge. While unpleasant facts of history can not be brushed aside, we need to focus on the heritage that India can be justly proud of . India Gate which commemorates soldiers of the Indian Imperial Army , who laid down their lives to support and promote British colonial power throughout the world is indeed part of our history but by no stretch of imagination can this monument be our Number 1 national heritage . Aurangzeb Road that glorifies that religious tyrant can not be considered a pride worthy symbol of India's National; Heritage. It would be in the fitness of things if New Delhi Railway Station primarily built for the exclusive use of the British to showcase their racial superiority is renamed as Netaji Subhash Terminal and Aurangzeb Road in the proximity of #7 Race Cource road is renamed as Netaji Subhash Sarani.

This national seminar is our humble attempt to correct history, recognize our own true legacy and that of our great patriots and to let our children bloom into patriotic and self confident citizens of a strong, prosperous and just  India.

We the people have tremendous faith in the leadership of Shri Narendra Bhai Modi and we do hope and believe that he will fulfill the dreams of the people by complete declassification of files relating to Subhash Chandra Bose, By appointing a commission of eminent historians to research and re write contemporary i1istory and creating a befitting  Azad hind Fauj Memorial  in the very heart of the National Capital.

Jai Hind
